This should enable some interesting workflows with Workflow, Drafts, and LaunchCenter. OmniFocus 3 for iOS is getting the same OmniJS engine that’s currently available in OmniOutliner 3. When they mark it done, it will be marked done in your system, too. They can convert it to a project or add subtasks in their system, whatever they need to do to integrate it into their system. Need to delegate a task to someone? You’ll be able to share tasks with them and have it show up for both of you in OmniFocus. No more! You can now select multiple items in a list and edit them as one! Not only is it less error-prone, it’s a huge time-saver.

Have you ever tried to make the same change(s) to multiple tasks in a list, only to have some of them get lost because you didn’t make the same changes to every task? I know I’ve had tasks slip through the cracks this way. I’ll have more to say on this in the coming weeks.Ĭalendar events are now shown in a list with the tasks due today. OmniFocus 3 replaces Contexts with Tags, and you can add multiple tags to a project or task. It works for a simple GTD setup, but it results in some creative use of the field to implement other workflows. OmniFocus 1 and 2 used the GTD-centric notion of contexts to help you organize your tasks around the person, place, or other resources that you need to perform a task. I have wished that OmniFocus had tags since the first day I used it. Here are the top 7 features I’m looking forward to when OmniFocus 3 ships later this year. This version will get out of your way and let you focus on your tasks like never before. The reason is simple: it’s more flexible.
Omnifocus 3 beta update#
This is going to be a major update that will enable some incredible new workflows. I can’t wait for OmniFocus 3 for macOS to be available.
Omnifocus 3 beta driver#
It’s not feature-complete-there are still several major features that the OmniGroup has said they’re working on that aren’t yet in the beta-but it’s already become my daily driver on my phone and iPad. Last week, I received an invitation to try the beta version of OmniFocus 3 for iOS. (There’s a good chance I’ve spent more time on a beta version of OmniFocus than GM versions.) I used Ethan Schoonover’s Kinkless GTD scripts and have run every beta version of OmniFocus they’ve put out. I’ve been using OmniFocus since before it was OmniFocus.
